How do you get there?
Prasonisi is a fairly popular destination on the Island of Rhodes in Greece. To reach the surfer’s paradise or hotels, you have to travel down heading southwards to the furthest tip of Rhodes.
Heading south, Prasonisi is roughly an hour and a half drive away from Rhodes airport. You will first reach the Greek village of Kattavia, after which you have to make a left turn and drive almost 8 more kilometers to reach the end tip of Rhodes. There are several road signs to guide you.
You know you have reached Prasonisi when you can smell the air soaked in the salty sea winds, the views of the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean are visible, and the mountains and pristine sand form a painting-like scenery. What to pack?
Depending on the month you are traveling to Prasonisi, you will need to pack your wetsuit. When planning to visit during early summer, around June or later in September, pack your long leg full-body wetsuit. But if traveling in July or August, a short summer wetsuit is ideal.
The next most important thing is your board! The size of your board is crucial for safe surfing. Check the weather predictions on a reliable forecast channel before packing your boards. To be on the green side, add a few knots to forecasted wind conditions each day.
Boards between 80 to 130 liters are often preferred, on average. The sails for windsurfing should be around 4.7 to 7.5 meters to suit the wind and waves of Prasonisi. Your boards would also depend upon your body weight.
